pratyuvāca mahīpālaṃ devadeva umāpatiḥ /
varaṃ vṛṇīṣva bhadraṃ te stotreṇānena suvrata //
the god of gods, the lord of Umā, replied to the ruler of the earth: / 'Choose a boon, may good betide you, O you of noble vows, by this hymn of praise!
