cācalyamānāḥ kṛṣyante na mriyante tathāpi ca /
dehād utpāṭyate māṃsaṃ teṣām asthīni mudgaraiḥ //

Trembling, they are dragged about, and yet they do not die; / the flesh is torn from their body, and their bones [smashed] with mallets.
