pretabhūtā narāḥ sarve yamalokaṃ samāgatāḥ /
ākhyānaṃ kathayiṣyāmi yathoddiṣṭaṃ purātanam //

All men who have become spirits of the dead and arrived in the realm of Yama, / [to them] I shall tell the ancient narrative as pointed out.
