uktāni ṣaṭsahasrāṇi purāṇe mekalātaṭe /
ityāha jñānayogasya dharmayogasya tattvavit //

Six thousand [verses] are declared in the Purāṇa concerning the bank of the Mekalā; / so says the knower of truth regarding the yoga of knowledge and the yoga of duty.
