vratair niyamadānaiś ca homair jāpyairvidhānataḥ /
kṛcchracāndrāyaṇair divyaiḥ kliśyate ca kalevaram //

Through vows, observances, gifts, burnt offerings, and chanting according to the rules,
and through divine kṛcchra and cāndrāyaṇa penances, he mortified his body.
