brahmovāca:
dānavānāṃ vighātārthaṃ narmadātaṭam āśritāḥ /
tapaḥ kuruta bho devās tapo hi paramaṃ balam //
Brahmā said: / ‘For the destruction of the dānavas, resort to the bank of the Narmadā / and practice austerity, O gods, for austerity is supreme power.
