īśvara uvāca:
yathā kāṣṭhamayo hastī yathā carmamayo mṛgaḥ /
brāhmaṇaś cānadhīyānastrayaste nāmadhārakāḥ //
Īśvara said:
'Just as an elephant made of wood, just as an antelope made of leather,
so is a Brahmin who does not study: these three merely bear the name.
