īśvara uvāca:
triṣu lokeṣu vikhyātaṃ mārkaṇḍeśvarasaṃjñikam /
bṛhadrathāntaraṃ yac ca sāmavedaṃ dvijottamaḥ //

[The tīrtha] known in the three worlds by the name of Mārkaṇḍeśvara;
