śrībhagavān uvāca:
śṛṇuṣvaikamanā bhūtvā kathāṃ citrāṃ mahīpate /
śravaṇād eva tasyā hi sarvapāpaiḥ pramucyate //

The Blessed Lord said:
Listen attentively, O protector of the earth, to the wondrous story;
for merely by hearing it, one is completely freed from all sins.
