Kṣupa said, "The warrior caste," while Dadhīca said, "The priestly caste." / Then both of them stated their arguments, and neither would yield. / Then, through sharp temper, superior austerity, / the pre-eminence of brahminhood, and by the power of fate, / enraged, O Vyāsa, Dadhīca struck him on the head with his left hand, / and of great splendour, he struck back with the thunderbolt.
