vedaṃ vedau tathā vedāndevāṃśca caturo dvijāḥ
adhītya guruve dattvā dakṣiṇāṃ ca bhavedgṛhī
Having studied one Veda, two Vedas, or the [three] Vedas and all four, O twice-born, / and having given the sacrificial fee to the guru, he may become a householder.
