sūta uvāca -- caturṣvapi ca vedeṣu purāṇeṣu ca sarvaśaḥ
śrīmaheśātparo devo na samāno'sti kaścana

Sūta said: / In all four Vedas and in all the Purāṇas, / there is no god higher than the glorious Maheśa, nor is any equal [to him].
