bharataḥ pitaraṃ dṛṣṭvā mṛtaṃ mātṛkṛtena vai |
rājyamṛddhaṃ na jagrāha bhrātuḥ priyacikīrṣayā ||

Bharata, seeing that his father died solely on, account of his mother, refrained from becoming the king of Ayodhyâ, the prosperous city and wanted the welfare of his brother Râma.
