so'tha hemamṛgo bhūtvā sītādṛṣṭipathaṃ gataḥ |
māyāvī cāticitrāṅgaścaranprabalamantike ||

The magician Mârîcha assumed the form of a golden deer and reached the sight of Jânakî. Then that variously spotted deer began to move about near the Sîtâ Devî.
