tamuvāca paraṃ jñānaṃ śokamohavināśanam |
ṛṣiruvāca |
śṛṇu rājan pravakṣyāmi kāraṇaṃ bandhamokṣayoḥ ||

Vyâsa said:-- O King! When the King Suratha asked thus, the Muni in reply said to him the following words, full of wisdom, so that his delusion and sorrow might vanish.
