daśaratha uvāca |
vada brahmaṃśca śuklāyā āṣāḍhe caritaṃ mahat |
caturthyā naiva tṛpyāmi kathāṃ śrutvā susiddhidām ||

Daśaratha said: / Speak, O holy one, of the great story of the fourth lunar day / of the bright fortnight in Āṣāḍha; I am not satiated by hearing this tale that grants great success.
