janaiḥ kutra mahīpāla pragantuṃ naiva śakyate |
tathaiva duḥkhitaiḥ sthātuṃ vaneṣu ca gṛheṣu ca ||
The people were not able to go anywhere, O protector of the earth, / and so, afflicted, they remained in forests and houses.
