jīvātmaparamātmānau pādau tasya mahātmanaḥ |
dvipado gaṇarājo'taḥ kathyate vedavādataḥ ||
The individual self and the Supreme Self are the two feet of that great-souled one;
hence the king of the Gaṇas is declared by Vedic testimony to be two-footed.
