kṛtaṃ tretā dvāparaś ca kaliś ceti caturyugam
procyate tatsahasraṃ tu brahmaṇo divasaṃ dvija //
Kṛta, Tretā, Dvāpara, and Kali—these are called the cycle of four ages;
a thousand of those, O twice-born, is a day of Brahmā.
