taṃ namāmi gaṇādhyakṣaṃ bhīmam ugram umāsutam
madamattaṃ virūpākṣaṃ bhaktavighnanivārakam //
I bow to that leader of the gaṇas, terrible, fierce, the son of Umā, / intoxicated with rut, odd-eyed, who dispels the obstacles of his devotees.
