āpo nārā iti proktā āpo vai narasūnavaḥ
ayanaṃ tasya tāḥ pūrvaṃ tena nārāyaṇa smṛtaḥ //
"The waters are called nārāḥ, for the waters are indeed the sons of Nara; / they were formerly his resting place (ayana); therefore he is called Nārāyaṇa."
