purā puraṃdaro rājan strītvaṃ prāpto 'padharmataḥ
tṛṇabindumuneḥ śāpān mukto hy aṣṭākṣarāj japāt //
In ancient times, Puraṃdara, O King, attained womanhood through wrongful conduct; / he was released from the curse of the sage Tṛṇabindu by reciting the eight-syllabled [mantra].
