tuṣṭāva devaṃ hṛṣṭātmā brahmavāgbhirmaheśvaram
Śaṅkara breaking forth from the surface of Brahmā's forehead. / With a delighted heart, Brahmā praised the god Maheśvara with Vedic words.
7.4
brahma uvāca
devadeva jagannātha karuṇākara śaṅkara

yatsṛṣṭyā na kalaṃ deva jagatte pūrayiṣyati
Create, O supreme lord, without my desire to create being exhausted; / by your creation, O god, the universe will be filled in no time."
7.7
omityāha haraprītassasṛje parameśvaraḥ
rudrānamitaviśrāntān triṇetrān somaśekharān
Saying "Om," Hara, well pleased, the supreme lord created / the Rudras of boundless repose, three-eyed and crowned with the crescent moon.

dṛṣṭvā rudrānapi tadā prajāpatirabhāṣata
Then, seeing the Rudras dwelling in the atmosphere, moving on earth, and also moving in heaven, / Prajāpati spoke:

brahma
namaste'stu mahādeva soma somārthaśekhara
sṛjatvamaśubhā deva prajāmṛtyusamanvitāḥ
Brahmā [spoke]: / "Homage to you, Mahādeva, Soma, crowned with the crescent moon! / O Lord, create inauspicious subjects accompanied by death;
7.10
no cetsargo vivardhaśca na bhaviṣyati sāmpratam
tasya prajāpatervākyānnāhaṃ sṛkṣye mṛtiprajāḥ
otherwise, creation and increase will not occur at present." / At that word of Prajāpati: "I will not create mortal subjects.
7.11
tasmātsthāṇurbhavādyatvameva sṛjabhoḥ prajāḥ
tadādāya maheśasya sasṛje bhagavānprajāḥ
Therefore be a pillar (sthāṇu) today; do you yourself create creatures, sir!" / Accepting that [command] of Maheśa, the blessed [Brahmā] created subjects.
7.12
tadānīṃ devadevonau rudrasthāṇuriti śrutaḥ
ekādaśāste mukhyāśca sañjātāśśaṅkarāṃśakāḥ
At that time, that god of gods was renowned as Rudra-Sthāṇu. / And those eleven principal [Rudras] arose as portions of Śaṅkara:

śravaṇādasya pāpāni jñānapūrvakṛtā na hi
Indeed, the origin of the eleven Rudras has been told to you. / From hearing this, sins committed knowingly are no longer [held against one];
7.15
