tathātra caturlakṣaṃ saṃkṣepeṇa niveśitam /
purāṇāni daśāṣṭau ca sāmprataṃ tadihocyate /
nāmatastāni vakṣyāmi śṛṇu tvamṛṣisattama //

Likewise, four hundred thousand [verses] have been arranged here in summary.

I shall tell them by name; listen, O best of ṛṣis:
