ṛṣimadhyagato devi tapastapati duṣkaram /
so 'pi rudratvamāyāti samprāpte bhūtaviplave //
Staying among the sages, O goddess, he performs austere penance difficult to practice; / he too attains the state of Rudra when the destruction of living beings arrives.
