103.47

anasūyovāca:
tapasā sidhyate svargastapasā paramā gatiḥ /
tapasā cārthakāmau ca tapasā guṇavānsutaḥ /
tapa eva ca me viprāḥ sarvakāmaphalapradam //

Anasūyā said:
“By asceticism heaven is accomplished, by asceticism the highest state;
by asceticism both wealth and pleasure [are gained], and by asceticism a virtuous son;
asceticism alone, O brahmins, grants the fruit of all my desires.”
