śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
etacchrutvā vaco rājansaṃhṛṣṭā ṛṣayo 'bhavan /
narmadāṃ stotumārabdhāḥ kṛtāñjalipuṭā dvijāḥ //

The venerable Mārkaṇḍeya said:
Having heard this speech, O king, the ṛṣis were delighted;
with folded hands, the twice-born began to praise the Narmadā:
