śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
evaṃ bhagavatī puṇyā stutā sā munipuṃgavaiḥ /
cintayāmāsa sarveṣāṃ dāsyāmi varamuttamam //

Glorious Mārkaṇḍeya said: / Thus praised by the eminent sages, the holy goddess / thought: 'I shall grant an excellent boon to all.'
