kubera uvāca:
yadi tuṣṭo mahādeva yadi deyo varo mama /
yakṣāṇām īśvaraścāhaṃ bhavāmi dhanadastviti //

Kubera said: / "If you are pleased, O Mahādeva, if a boon is to be given to me, / may I become the lord of the Yakṣas and the giver of wealth."
