manvādau ca yugādau ca vyatīpāte dinakṣaye /
yo dadyāt pitṛmātṛbhyaḥ so 'śvamedhaphalaṃ labhet //
at the beginning of a manvantara, at the beginning of a yuga, on a vyatīpāta day, or at the loss of a lunar day, / whoever offers [it] to his fathers and mothers, he obtains the fruit of a horse sacrifice.
