vedoktena vidhānena snānaṃ kṛtvā yathāvidhi /
piṇḍanirvapaṇaṃ kṛtvā vācayetsvastikaṃ tataḥ //
Having performed the sacred bath according to rule as prescribed in the Veda, / and having offered the funeral rice balls (piṇḍa), he should then have blessings recited.
