gateṣu sarvadeveṣu kāmadevo 'pi bhārata /
tapaścacāra vipulaṃ narmadātaṭamāśritaḥ //
When all the gods had departed, Kāmadeva also, O Bhārata,
performed vast austerity, taking refuge on the bank of the Narmadā.
