śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
narmadādakṣiṇe rodhasyaṅkūreśvaramuttamam /
tīrthaṃ sarvaguṇopetaṃ triṣu lokeṣu viśrutam //

The glorious Mārkaṇḍeya said:
On the southern bank of the Narmadā is the excellent Aṅkūreśvara,
a pilgrimage place endowed with all virtues, renowned in the three worlds,
