saritsāgaraparyantā vasudhā bhasmasātkṛtā /
varjayitvā mahābhāgāṃ narmadāmamṛtopamām //
the earth, ending at the rivers and oceans, was reduced to ashes, / except for the highly fortunate Narmadā, who is like nectar.
