evaṃ mayā purā dṛṣṭo yugānte sarvasaṃkṣayaḥ /
varjayitvā mahāpuṇyāṃ narmadāṃ nṛpasattama //
Thus the total destruction at the end of the cosmic age was seen by me long ago, / except for the exceedingly sacred Narmadā, O best of kings.

|| iti śrīskānde mahāpurāṇa ekāśītisāhasryāṃ saṃhitāyāṃ pañcama āvantyakhaṇḍe revākhaṇḍe śrīnarmadāmāhātmye dvādaśādityarūpeṇa jagatsaṃharaṇavarṇanaṃ nāma saptadaśo 'dhyāyaḥ ||
