śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
kathitaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ draṣṭuṃ śūle kṣiptaṃ tapodhanaiḥ /
nārāyaṇasamīpe tu gatāḥ sarve maharṣayaḥ //
Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya said: / Hearing that the brāhmaṇa was impaled on a stake by ascetics, / all the great sages went into the presence of Nārāyaṇa:
