śivarātrisamaṃ puṇyam ityevaṃ śivabhāṣitam /
vājapeyāśvamedhābhyāṃ phalaṃ bhavati nānyathā //
the religious merit is equal to Śivarātri; so it was spoken by Śiva. / The fruit is equal to the Vājapeya and the horse sacrifice, not otherwise.
