tato vārāṇasīṃ prāptastasyāṃ tadapatacchiraḥ /
patite tu kapāle ca brahmahatyā na muñcati //

then reached Vārāṇasī, and in it that head fell. / But even when the skull had fallen, the murder of a brahmin did not leave him.
