pṛthivyāṃ sarvatīrtheṣu samuddhṛtya śubhodakam /
muktaṃ tatra suraiḥ khātvā devakhātaṃ tato 'bhavat //
Gathering auspicious water from all the pilgrimage places on earth, / it was released there by the gods after digging, and thus it became Devakhāta.
