varuṇaḥ paścime bhāge mitrastu vāyave tathā /
viṣṇuśca saumyadigbhāge vivasvānīśagocare //

Varuṇa [abides] in the western region, and Mitra in the northwestern; / Viṣṇu in the northern direction, and Vivasvat within the realm of the northeast;
