avatīryamāṇastu muniḥ śūle māṃsatvam āgate /
atisaṃpīḍito vipraḥ śaṅkaraṃ manasāgamat //

As he was being taken down, however, the stake having grown into his flesh, / the brāhmaṇa, in great agony, turned his mind to Śaṅkara.
