śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
ataḥ paraṃ pravakṣyāmi prajāsaṃhāralakṣaṇam /
yaccihnaṃ dṛśyate tatra yathā kalpo vidhīyate //
The venerable Mārkaṇḍeya said:
Henceforth I shall describe the characteristics of the destruction of living beings,
what signs are seen there, and how the kalpa is arranged.
