śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
gacchettataḥ kṣoṇinātha tīrthaṃ paramaśobhanam /
sarvapāpaharaṃ puṇyaṃ daśakanyeti viśrutam /
mahādevakṛtaṃ puṇyaṃ sarvakāmaphalapradam //

The venerable Mārkaṇḍeya said: / Then, O lord of the earth, one should go to the exceedingly lovely pilgrimage place, / known as Daśakanyā, sacred and removing all sins, / created by Mahādeva, which grants the fruits of all desires.
