piṇḍadānaṃ jalaṃ tāta ṛṇamuttamamucyate /
pitḥṇāṃ taddhi vai proktamṛṇaṃ daivamataḥ param //
Offering of funeral cakes and water, dear one, is called the supreme debt; / that indeed is declared as the debt to the ancestors; beyond this is the divine debt.
