tribhiḥ sārasvataṃ toyaṃ saptāhena tu yāmunam /
sadyaḥ punāti gāṅgeyaṃ darśanādeva nārmadam //
The water of the Sarasvatī purifies in three days, but that of the Yamunā in a week; / that of the Gaṅgā purifies immediately, but that of the Narmadā merely by seeing it.
