śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
athānyat sampravakṣyāmi devasya caritaṃ mahat /
śrutamātreṇa yenāśu sarvapāpaiḥ pramucyate //

Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya said: / Now I shall tell another great deed of the god, / by the mere hearing of which one is instantly freed from all sins.
