śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
punar anyat pravakṣyāmi devasya caritaṃ mahat /
śrutamātreṇa yenaiva sarvapāpaiḥ pramucyate //

Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya said: / Again I shall narrate another great deed of the god, / by the mere hearing of which one is freed from all sins.
