śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca:
caturthaṃ sampravakṣyāmi devasya caritaṃ mahat /
śrutamātreṇa yenaiva sarvapāpaiḥ pramucyate //

Śrī Mārkaṇḍeya said: / I shall tell the fourth great deed of the god, / by the mere hearing of which one is freed from all sins.
