etacchrutvā vacaḥ krūraṃ haihayaḥ śataśo vṛtaḥ /
dhāvamānaḥ kṣititale brahmadaṇḍahato 'patat //

Hearing these harsh words, the Haihaya, surrounded by hundreds [of men],
rushing forward, fell to the surface of the earth, struck down by the staff of Brahmā.
