kārtavīryo jayaṃ labdhvā saṃkhye hatvā dvijottamam /
jagāma svāṃ purīṃ hṛṣṭaḥ kṛtāntavaśamohitaḥ //
Having attained victory in battle and killed the best of twice-borns, / Kārtavīrya went joyfully to his own city, deluded under the sway of death.
